The Vail-Leavitt Music Hall announces the first in a series of concerts to provide support for the Hall's ongoing artistic and community mission, featuring Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys with special guests Lil Cliff and the Cliffhangers, on Friday, October 15th at 7 PM.

This will be a rare opportunity to see Rosie Ledet and the Zydeco Playboys in an intimate concert setting. Known as "The Zydeco Sweetheart," Rosie is a Riverhead Blues Festival favorite. She hails from the rural town of Church Point, LA, and learned to play the accordion by watching her husband and then practicing on his accordion while he was at work.

With her self-penned tunes, Ledet provides a unique female presence in the male-dominated zydeco world. She sings in both Creole French and English, and even has some influences from the time she spent in Asia. Her songs are often sly and lusty; combined with her natural good looks and distinctive, bluesy voice, she wows audiences wherever she goes. The Wall Street Journal wrote, "Today's premier female artist is Rosie Ledet, whose soulful voice kicks her male counterparts right out of the club.

Another Festival fave and International Blues Challenge Finalists, Lil Cliff and the Cliffhangers, is an innovative blues harmonica-driven quartet that consistently incorporates a unique sense of energy and life into their sound. These boys have been singin', swingin' and jumpin' up tri-state audiences for the last twenty-plus years with their own special brand of blues and swing. The band features some wonderfully original tunes, complete with robust harmonies that stomp out a declaration of spiritual fervor and upbeat entertainment.

It's only a matter of hours till the Blues Festival (This weekend), and it looks like we'll see beautiful weather! Are you ready for what's sure to be the best Riverhead Blues Festival yet? Are you excited to see Johnny Winter, Chris Duarte, Roomful of Blues, and countless other talents!?
